This was an amazing find, it is a stunning automotive style large format brochure published by Bendix when they introduced the worlds very first automatic washer. Beautiful images of the machine along with a complete explanation of how a new fangled automatic washer works. To say this is the birth of modern clothes washing is an understatement and what this machine did to provide eventual freedom to women is clear. [I]The modern woman, the woman abreast of the latest developments in convenient living, will quickly picture how much a Bendix Home Laundry can mean to her. Her homemaking is greatly simplified and much drudgery has been taken out of housework by automatic labor -saving home appliances. And now. Bendix introduced the very first automatic washer to the world in 1937. Here is the service manual they produced for servicers to learn about the machine. Sections include installation, operation, service and part information. Please note there are two breaks in the page numbering, 25 to 29 and 31 to 34. we are not sure if this was meant as chapter changes/break points or there are pages missing from the original manual as the manual seems complete.

Here is an important manual for anyone who has vintage electronic control Kenmore or Whirlpool belt-drive washers. The manual specifically covers the 1980 Lady Kenmore, but I suspect many of the theories and processes extended out to other electronic control Whirlpool and Kenmore washers around this period. Pictures and explanations go along with each section. Sections include Operating the Machine, Cycle charts, explanations of how each button effects the cycle, how the system and relays work, diagnosing trouble and servicing. Also tips on how to run the hidden test cycles and tips such as: [I]The machine suds saver saves only 18 gallons of suds or rinse water unless converted. Because this machine is equipped with a suds level pressure switch, only 18 gallons of water will be saved, both suds and rinse. If the customer wants all of the water saved, the suds level switch must be bypassed . We will cover that in later frames.[/I]

What is most unique about this very first Beam designed washer is it has two full size motors, one for wash and the other for spin! [I]This Automatic Washer has been designed and developed to eliminate the old fashioned wash day for the modern housewife. The cycle and washing principles incorporated insure maximum results with a minimum effort. All this plus economical operation provides an automatic that is virtually free from mechanical failure. Many years of factory and field tests have proven the simple and practical design of this Automatic requires little if any adjustments. However, should adjustments be necessary, most of them can be handled through the conveniently located access panel. Full and very comprehensive service manual for all 1961 Hotpoint Washers. This includes full information on the Co-Axial transmission that was used by Hotpoint from 1958 thru 1974. [I] The trend toward the addition of more and more automatic features has become evident in the design of clothes washers. This trend has added to the responsibilities of the appliance service technician. He finds that it is becoming increasingly important to continually learn what is new in the servicing of appliances. Only by close attention to the details of new designs, functions of components, diagnosis and service techniques can he provide high-quality service. For example, it is imperative that the technician become thoroughly familiar with the operation of the new Program Timer introduced on 1961 Hotpoint Touch Command Washers. A complete analysis of the functions of this timer and associated components is presented on page 12 of this manual. Westinghouse marketed their very first top loader starting in 1962, they had the Easy Company produce their machines at first. In 1965 Westinghouse started producing their very own designed top loading automatic washers. This service manual is for the very first Easy made machines equipped with Easy's "Velva-Power" tranmission. Very comprehensive manual with specifications, cycle charts, operating instructions, wiring diagrams and detailed servicing information.

Here is the earliest Frigidaire automatic washer service manual we have found. It is from 1949 for models WJ-60 (1947), WJ-60A (1947-48), WK-60 (1948), WL-60 (1949). Included is also the complete servicing supplement covering the 1950-1952 WO-65 washer. This service manual is very comprehensive including complete Unimatic transmission tear down and rebuild instructions.

Here is a fascinating owners manual, it was packed with the very first Hotpoint Automatic washer which was essentially was produced by Beam and is nearly identical the original '47 AMC Coronado washer.
