It was produced to explain the many proceeses involved in producing an automatic washer, dryer and combination washer-dryer utilized at Maytag's Newton, IA factory. This large format book (8.5 x 9) is filled with 20 rare full size photos of the major processes in the factory along with full descriptions of what you are seeing, such as: [I]Maytag wash baskets must be properly balanced so they will spin smoothly during the water extraction phase of the cycle. The balancer, shown in this photograph, will indicate on a dial just where the additional weights must be added to the balancing ring to provide the specified smooth spin.
