Hoover Portable and Slimline Vacuum Cleaner Service Instructions - Releases
Introduced in 1963, the Portable and Slimline machines were the first new "canister" style cleaners to be introduced in nearly 10 years. The Portable and Slimline cleaners are very similar machines in many ways, using the same motor. The motor is also essentially the same as the motor in a Dial-A-Matic, however the Portable and Slimline have a third fan in place of the belt-pulley. The Portable carried all of its attachments, and the Slimline was often advertised as one of Hoover's least-expensive cleaners. These service instructions cover motor removal and disassembly, as well as replacing the switch and servicing the cord-reel. Hose repair and the rug/floor nozzle are also discussed. These service instructions are from the late 70's, however they retroactively apply to all models going back to 1963. Also included is a parts diagram for the model 2100, the first of the Portable cleaners.
