Welcome to Automatic Ephemera, a library for historical research and education, sharing public domain documents relating to vintage products for the home. You are viewing the low-resolution preview, high-resoultion versions are also available for most documents. The scanning of all high-resolution documents is done at 300dpi with the utmost diligence and care to produce high quality .pdf files which have text search capabilities built-in to bring modern convenience to vintage printed materials. The high resolution also allows for close-up examination of all images on your computer monitor and in many cases makes reading the text easier than the original document. Quality printers can print these documents nearly identically to the original document. Maintaining a library as such is a time consuming and expensive venture, all materials have a small download fee to offset the library's many expenses. In order to read these documents you need Adobe Reader 7 or greater installed on your computer. Click here for samples of the Documents in our library.

Automated Summary of Text on this Page:
HORIZONTAL HOLD

Because of the extremely stable circuits in your new Zenith, a setting in the approximate center of the range of this control will be satisfactory normally. If the picture on the receiver screen appears to have a tendency to move across the screen horizontally or if it assumes a broken •streaked appearance as indicated in Fig. 7, it is to be adjusted to the center of the range in which the picture remains "locked-in."

CONTRAST CONTROL

This control plays an important role in the operation of your receiver as it is used in adjusting the picture shown on the screen for maximum distinction between the black and white portions. It is to be noted that a setting too far in a counter-clockwise direction will result in a faded "washed out" picture presentation on the screen. Fig. 8. (This effect can also be the result-of too advanced, setting of the brightness control which has been discussed in a previous paragraph.) Your own eye discrimination will soon educate you as to the proper setting of this control.

Having completely read the foregoing instructions you should now be sufficiently well versed to operate your new Zenith television receiver. With your receiver adjusted for your location, only three simple operations will be necessary to bring you the ' Best in Television." They are:

Turn On-Off switch volume control to On\x9D position. Allow warm-up period.

Turn Station Selector Switch to desired channel (Be sure this station is on the air). It may now be necessary to adjust the volume control.

With Contrast Control in full counter clockwise position, adjust Brightness control until light is just visible on screen. Contrast control is then to be advanced to the position which results in a picture of most pleasing appearance. (See Fig. 9.)
